What’s new in the RLS3
Compared to the previous Fujitsu high efficiency ductless heat pump model, the RLS2, this new RLS3 has seen improvements in both the HSPF and the SEER ratings. This means this new models will heat and cool your home for less cost than it predecessor.
Another big improvement made for the new RLS3 is that they’ve managed to keep the HSPF quite high even for the RLS3H model which includes Fujitsu’s xltH (extra low temperature heating) feature.
In previous years the HSPF dropped significantly for the H model, but this hasn’t happened this year.
When we reached out to speak with Fujitsu engineering to find out how they did it we were told:
“There’s been an onboard software change which enables the xltH feature to operate more efficiently”.
This is good news in our books, especially after the winter we experienced.
How are the specs
The big numbers to look at are the HSPF and SEER. For the 12,000 BTU model they are 14.0 and 29.3 respectively for the non xltH model and 13.8 and 29.3 for the model with xltH.
Operating temperature is great for both with the regular non H model is rated down to -21° celsius while the RLS3H model with xltH is rated down to -25°.
Beyond the efficiency ratings the new RLS3 move lots of air in a room with the max fan speed setting pushing 489 cubic feet of air per minute. Even with all that air moving it’s still very quiet, with a noise level rating of only 42db on high fan speed setting.
What’s the warranty
One of the most impressive things about Fujitsu is there 10 year parts and labour warranty. We love this, especially with so many home owners choosing to finance their heat pump purchase and install through Nova Scotia Power.
Being able to have a warranty for that long means home owners can finance longer knowing they’re covered.
If you’ve been waiting to get a mini split heat pump for these units to become even more efficient than this is the model you’ve been waiting for.
